Connect Microsoft 365
A read-only, auto-syncing directory connection for a client running Microsoft 365.
What this does
Connecting grants Reconlio read-only access to the client's Microsoft 365 user directory — the list of users and whether each one is enabled or disabled. Reconlio never touches email, files, Teams messages, or anything beyond that user list, and can't make changes to the tenant.
Once connected, the first roster sync runs automatically — no separate step needed — and the roster re-syncs nightly after that, so a client added or removed in Microsoft 365 shows up in Reconlio without a manual re-upload. A manual Sync now is also available whenever you don't want to wait for the nightly run.
How to connect
- Open the client in Reconlio and choose to connect Microsoft 365 from its Integrations panel.
- Sign in with a Microsoft 365 account that can grant admin consent for the organization.
- Review the Microsoft consent screen — it will name the exact permission being requested (read-only directory access) before you approve anything.
- Approve. The first sync starts automatically.
If you don't have admin rights on the tenant
You don't have to be the one who approves it. Ask whoever administers the client's Microsoft 365 tenant to use the same connect link instead — see Approving a connection request, written for exactly that person. They don't need a Reconlio account to do it.
Prefer not to connect at all?
A directory connection is optional. Uploading a CSV roster works the same way for reconciliation — the only difference is that a CSV needs re-uploading by hand when the client's roster changes, instead of syncing on its own.
