Approving a connection request
You've received a link from a company that uses Reconlio to manage software licenses for your organization. Here's what it is and what happens if you open it.
What is this?
An MSP (managed service provider) that uses Reconlio has asked to connect to your organization's Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace directory, so Reconlio can check whether the software licenses they bill you for actually match the people using them.
You don't need a Reconlio account
The link takes you straight to Microsoft's or Google's own sign-in and consent screen — not a Reconlio login. Reconlio never sees your password, and nothing about your organization's account is created or changed inside Reconlio itself.
What exactly gets shared
Read-only directory access — your organization's user list (names, work email addresses, and active/disabled status) and nothing else. Not email, not files, not messages, and nothing that lets Reconlio or the MSP make changes to your directory.
What to expect, step by step
- The link opens a page naming the MSP that requested the connection and which organization it's for.
- Click Approve & Connect.
- You're taken to Microsoft's or Google's own sign-in screen — sign in with an account that can grant admin consent for your organization.
- Review the permission screen that provider itself shows you before approving — it will describe the same read-only access described above.
Once approved, there's nothing further to do — the MSP's Reconlio account starts pulling your read-only user list automatically to reconcile against their invoices.
If the link says it's expired or invalid
Connect links are single-purpose and time-limited. Ask your contact at the MSP to send a new one — nothing about your account or directory is affected by an expired link.
